Love is true power! Instead of fearing disease, you draw closer when it happens to someone you love. A smelly dog is still adorable when it's your own. Love is blind - but it is the only super power that enables us to transcend ourselves.

OMG - this made me cry...the days of childhood innocence, when we knew nothing of the real world and wanted to play with stars: Writing a sad song that makes people cry is hard...but writing a song that sounds happy, and makes people cry, is even harder.
I have often thought about the necessity of suffering in producing intense emotional states that can either pivot us into great spiritual strength or lead to our soul's demise. I recall a quote by film director Guillermo del Toro (Pan's Labyrinth): "...and I think that all of them have a huge quotient of darkness because the one thing alchemy understands and fairy tale lore understands, is that you need the vile matter for magic to flourish. You need lead to turn it into gold."
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall,
'Cuz Humpty Dumpty wanted it all, With all the world's gold, and all the world's men Humpty lost himself in the end! There is a lot of truth to the saying that what happens inside a man is more important than what happens to him. Inner accomplishment must be the real goal and purpose, if any. We can be successful, wealthy, talented, etc. but true happiness can never be ours if our feelings towards negative people, drama, or losses are always the same. A complete change in our perception can never be seen on the outside, but it makes a world of a difference from within. All of us have experienced moments of clarity or sunshine after the storm. This is our proof that given consistent effort, we can permanently alter our consciousness to be expansive and forgiving all the time.
Sometimes I think we are forced to suffer, not as punishment, but for illumination...that we may care for others whose suffering is still greater.
Oh Loving One,
To meet you is a blessing...and a curse For the misers will share what's left in a purse You convince them of things bittersweet Once undertaken, they accomplish an impossible feat Having won a contest once in my lifetime didn't make me feel any different. I was grateful, but the actual performance and festival felt very showy as opposed to the deep and humble channeling necessary to write the piece. I had realized after the whole experience, that it was for depth that I wrote. Recognition at its best is fun, but writing itself is an incomparable feeling--it's the same difference between a wedding ceremony and the experience of falling in love. There is no point in a wedding if true love doesn't exist. Therefore, I choose to focus on the love aspect. Musicians can win competitions, but still not understand their art. Only communion with the very source of your inspiration, not awards, can help you understand your craft. At least this is the conclusion I've drawn, even if inaccurate. Love for someone or something is the universal center, while the rest is just celestial debris.
